Shopify’s checkout page has historically been one of the most restricted parts of the platform. While merchants could customize every other page of their store, the checkout remained largely untouchable — a generic experience that broke brand continuity. With the introduction of Checkout Extensibility, the opportunity arose to give merchants control, but the API is complex and requires technical knowledge that most merchants don’t have.
